A whopping 100-200 gallons per vehicle
The amount of water used by waterless car wash technology doesn't even compare with traditional methods, and should be the obvious decision when cleaning our cars in an area such as North Texas facing a decreasing water supply burdened even further by massive population growth.
The information above is the Texas Water Development Board's water projection data for Grayson County, Texas for the next 5 decades from the TWDB 2022 State Water Plan. The area to focus on is 'Needs (Potential Shortages)' as it is where we as local residents will begin to newly experience days where they cannot meet water needs. These needs could eliminate our ability to clean our cars, our homes, wash our clothes, maintain our lawns, grow our crops, water livestock, take showers, maintain sanitation, and even our ability to quench our thirst.
As unimaginable as it is to us today that these things we take for granted will soon start to become our reality if we do not start seriously behaving in more water conservative ways.
Fortunately, the experts at Texas Water Development Board have developed a strategy to meet those needs for each county in Texas. The 'Strategy Supplies' row indicates the additional water supplies the strategy if executed creates to cover the potential shortages.
Unfortunately, even the most effectively planned out strategy will fail if not implemented as designed by our communities. Water needs are only met if we succeed in doing all of the necessary things lined out by TWDB.
First, this requires education of the local population in order to bring awareness to this information as well as the specific strategies. It then takes cooperative action by the entire County of Grayson including government, private business, and public citizens coming together to implement the various water strategies successfully.
The water supply we must create via strategy as Grayson County residents is shown above to range from just 1650 acre-feet/year in 2020 to 33,884 acre-feet/year by 2070.
1 acre-foot equals 325,851 gallons.
The information above is the Texas Water Development Board's Strategy Supplies Breakdown data for Grayson County, Texas for 2020 from the 2022 State Water Plan. The area of focus that concerns us here is the Demand Reduction (49%) piece of the pie otherwise known as Municipal Conservation.
This is the share of the strategy that car cleaning falls into.
As you can see it is basically half of the entire strategy. This is to say that the primary way of meeting water need is simply to not use more water than the plan determines we can, or can be stated as the required water conservation met by reduction of water demand. Most simply we must not use water where we need not use water. One example of this is not using water unnecessarily when cleaning our cars, but it has already been shown from above that utilization of waterless car wash instead of current methods to clean cars completely resolves the problem by strategic means. We do not NEED water to keep our vehicles clean now that we have technologically advanced means of achieving the same ends.
Since half of our strategy is municipal conservation we can say that the demand reduction strategy supplies share is half of the total from above which ranges from 825 acre-fee/year in 2020 to 16,942 acre-feet/year in 2070.
This is the area where Green Miyagi creates a positive impact in our local community.
Some additional calculations can determine how much potential impact Green Miyagi Waterless Mobile Auto Detailing & Car Wash Service could actually have.
💧These numbers assume the ideal situation in which current car cleaning methods in Grayson County, Texas are replaced entirely with the waterless wash technology utilized by Green Miyagi.
💧To start we need an average in gallons of water conserved per vehicle detailed and/or washed. The 20-200 gallon per wash range provided above for water usage by method gives us an average of about 40 gallons of water saved each time waterless wash is used instead of any other car cleaning method.
💧According to census.gov data Grayson County, Texas contains 48,454 households.
💧Data from datausa.io shows households in the county average 2 cars each.
💧48,454 households averaging 2 cars each in Grayson County gives us a total of 96,908 cars.
💧Various data suggests (and is reasonable to believe) each car in America gets washed an average of 11 times per year.
💧96,908 cars washed 11 times each equals 1,065,988 total car washes every year in Grayson County, Texas.
💧1,065,988 washes times 40 (average gallons per wash saved) gives us a water savings of 42,639,520 gallons total in a year if using waterless car washing instead of any other method.
💧42,639,520 converted to acre-feet (1 acre-foot equals 325,851 gallons) gives us a total of 130.86 acre-feet/year of water conservation (demand reduction) strategy supplies goal achieved in a year via municipal conservation.
💧130.86 is about 16% of the 825 acre-feet/year municipal conservation strategy requirement we determined above. As population increases we can assume an increase in cars and thus an increasing acre-feet savings with each coming decade.
💧So now what does this mean economically $$$ for Grayson County, Texas?
This is a content preview space you can use to get your audience interested in what you have to say so they can’t wait to learn and read more. Pull out the most interesting detail that appears on the page and write it here.
This cost total of $19,449,561,516 ($19.5 BILLION) covers the years 2020-2070.
This cost is paid by residents of Grayson County, Texas through taxes as the recommended projects are funded publicly through government.
Since Green Miyagi is a private business any of the water conserved can be considered as met by the strategy, but without requiring the money needed when funding a project publicly.
So we can say that theoretically that money was saved since the 16% of strategy supplies was met through private business and consumer spending means thus reducing the cost burden on our government.
A much easier way to objectify this is to total 2020-2070 TWDB water strategy supplies. It totals 81,423 acre-feet which is equivalent to roughly 26.5 BILLION GALLONS that cost Grayson County $19.5 BILLION DOLLARS over the same 50 year period to conserve.
THIS EQUALS A WATER COST OF 75 CENTS PER GALLON TO CONSERVE THROUGH PUBLIC PROJECTS
Which means that one Green Miyagi Waterless service that conserves 40 gallons per wash on average saves US $30 in Grayson County, Texas!
Each & every waterless wash saves us all thirty bucks!
We have reached the limit of my ability to calculate all of the variables to accurately determine what the 16% demand reduction impact Green Miyagi could have if extrapolated through 2070, and then determine what percentage of the total cost it would be equivalent to.
Lets just say it stays 16%, and lets presume municipal projects are half of the total capital cost above.
So if $9.7 BILLION were the total cost through 2070 implementing water strategy projects in Grayson County, Texas, and if the Green Miyagi potential impact of 16% for this decade remained about the same through 2070 then 16% of $9.7B is approximately $1.56 BILLION dollars.
Something as simple as converting our car cleaning behaviors to utilize only the waterless water conservative method could save Grayson residents one and 1/2 billion dollars and create significant progress towards achieving TWDB strategy, and we can do it independent of democracy through better business and more consciousness as citizens.
Not to mention possibly not sinking the ship so that Generation Z is left this part of the Earth by us without also inheriting a systematic North Texas water nightmare. My daughter was born into Generation Z, and her future well-being is why I started Green Miyagi.
