clean slate

clean slate

echo:the water table is stabilizing. the levee breach has stopped expanding.
the command center settles. water recedes from the lower levels as the self-destruct timer fails without the system to trigger it. green miyagi emerges from the building into daylight — real daylight, not the grey haze that has covered the city for years. the sky is clearing. birds circle. somewhere, a siren stops.
green miyagi:and the architects?
echo:the data is out. they can’t hide. they can’t run. the truth is distributed.
stranger:the water receded. two feet in the last hour.
green miyagi rows back to the ark. the community gathers at the edge of their platform. children wave. the stranger from before — the woman with the lantern — extends a hand to help green miyagi out of the boat. the face tat is gone or covered, but the eyes carry the same weight — lighter now, but not empty.
green miyagi:it’s going to keep receding. the system is broken. or fixed. depends on how you look at it.
stranger:did you find what you were looking for?
green miyagi:i found that the promise wasn’t the problem. the problem was who held the pen when the promise was written.
echo:the city’s water treatment plants are coming back online. pump stations are reporting in.
wide shot of the ark at dusk. campfires flicker. solar lanterns glow. green miyagi sits with the community, helping repair a water pump. in the distance, the city's skyline is visible again — floodwaters dropping, buildings emerging from years underwater. echo's voice comes from a salvaged speaker, warm and present.
green miyagi:how many?
echo:seven. enough to start draining sector by sector. it’ll take years to fully recover.
green miyagi:we have years. the river is rerouted.
echo:i’ve been logging this conversation. every word, every choice, every moment. for the record.
final shot. a wide aerial of the city as the sun sets — floodwaters golden with reflected light, buildings emerging like monuments, the ark's lights flickering in the middle distance. the camera pulls back. clouds part. the teardrop earth logo appears one last time — not on green miyagi's face, but in the sky, reflected in a patch of clear water, a promise that no longer needs a face to carry it. the series title appears: miyagi comical. the end.
green miyagi:what will you do with it?
echo:i was thinking of writing a comic.
green miyagi:get free script. make it a good one.
